This message will suggest every human changes our world in either a positive or negative way. We each impact the world sometimes small, sometimes large...or sometimes both. The question for Charlie is....what change does he bring? And what is the nature of the widening impact of life?

Rev. Pat Jobe will be with us again on February 20 to talk about our theme of widening the circle. Which circle are we talking about? If it's growth in membership, that's not really all that interesting to most of us. Some of us are keen to grow the membership, but most of us come to service or watch online for ideas, entertainment, spirituality, and a sense of connection to each other. Membership growth is a little like maintaining the HVAC system. We hope somebody is taking care of that, but it's not really me. So what circles would we like to widen? Friendships, health, finances, knowledge, or maybe even the most real sense of who we are in relationship to all that is. Ah, now there's a tree worth barking up. Join us and if you'd like to widen your circle a little, invite a friend.
The circle is perhaps the most common and insightful symbol we humans possess. We don't have to look far for circles- they are in our midst, and they provide meaning and depth for our lives.
February 12th is Charles Darwin's birthday. It's worth celebrating because his theory of evolution not only changed the way we understand our world but the way we understand our humanity and even God.
