Among the many journeys toward Enlightenment is the fabulous path to discovering our true self.  Culture and expectations spend decades covering us up.  Enlightenment can lead to the wonderful archaeology revealing who you and I really are.

After leaving a violent relationship and living in the shelter with her 2 young daughters Beth has continued a relationship with the organization. She will also share stats about domestic violence and sexual assault within Beaufort County.

Who is Beth Young?

10/14/18 Service "Water Reflections" (Rev. Jim Morrison) *Audio File*

Remember the joys of water experiences both the positive and challenges. Remember also how sacred water is and how sacred is our coming together as a community of faith just as the water we pour together reminds us of the joy and strength of coming together.

**********
On Sunday, October 14th , we will be celebrating our annual Water Ceremony. We encourage everyone to bring a small amount of water from their summer travels, or from a place that is special to them.

During the ceremony, people one by one pour their water together into a large bowl. The combined water is symbolic of our shared faith coming from many different sources. This special service is a time to gather at the end of the
summer to renew our sense of community and welcome those returning from
their travels.

Water will be available for those who wish to participate but did not bring water. Please come an experience this meaningful special service. All are welcome!

10/7/2018 Service: "Blessing The Animals With Stories Of A Great Animal Lover" (Rev. Pat Jobe) *Audio File*

10/7/2018

Rev. Jobe will bring copies of his book Heart On Wheels, Amazin' Stories From The Life Of Tommy Hicks 1954-2017. He will talk about the humor and tenacity that energized this dear friend of his who passed away last September. He was a great animal lover and felt his connection to them as part of his connection to all of life. Hicks lived with muscular dystrophy for 57 years and spent more than 40 years in a wheelchair. He refused disability income for more than 30 years and coached, taught, ran businesses, and wrote madcap humor to fend off the demons of depression and loss of muscular power.

*********

On Sunday, Oct. 7th , brought back a popular service we have not done in a while – Blessing the Animals. This is one way we actively affirm our first principle of honoring the worth and dignity of all beings in our interconnected web of life. Congregants brought their pets to UUCL that morning. There was also an opportunity for remembering pets who have died, so please feel free to bring a picture of your beloved pet so they too can share in the Blessing.
