When I wake from a dream at times I say “that was strange, how did my mind come up with that?” What we often don’t realize is that what we call the everyday waking state is a conglomeration of beliefs and programs we have adopted from the past that has nothing to do with what is True in the present moment. Much of the discord we experience in this world is because we believe our dream is real and expect others, who have their own dream to agree with ours.
In order to experience the love and harmony that life is, we must wake up from this dream we have created for ourselves.
“Help us be brave enough for life and love, and guide us in our search through doubt and darkness until we find the faith which knows no place or season - until we learn at last that though the very stars may wander, there is that within us which need never lose its way. - A. Powell Davies, Unitarian Universalist Minister
In these times of uncertainty, we all need to find and keep our faith that gives us hope and strength everyday.
In each moment our Faith is Renewed when we resonate with the Higher Self which is continually working to bring balance to the Universe of which we are intimately interdependent.
"It’s easy to stand in the crowd but it takes courage to stand alone." - Mahatma Gandhi
Most of us know what Mahatma Gandhi is expressing here. All too often we are the one in the room with a different opinion than the rest of the group. That is the beauty of our Congregation. We are not standing alone, we are standing together. Sometimes this in itself gives us the courage to stand alone at those times we are not part of the crowd.
At Sundays service when Charlie gave us the image of light, sound and water waves radiating out in a perfect sphere from a single point I was inspired to connect with the inner point of stillness in my Self. As he spoke of the troubling events in our world I sobbed because of the contrast between the inner reality of peace and outer manifestation of conflict.
I was reminded that when a light is turned on in a dark room the darkness no longer exists. In the same way as we become conscious of our inner light and interconnectedness the darkness has fewer places to hide.
