Are We a Christian Nation? With Ray Tyler
Our Constitution prohibits the government from establishing a religion, or “prohibiting the free exercise” of one’s faith. It also prohibits any “religious Test” to hold office in the U.S. UUs can and should celebrate this freedom. Still, many Americans claim that we are a Christian nation founded on Christian principles. Over 60% identify as Christian, with nearly 80% in South Carolina. What do these numbers say to us as UUs? Is this a spiritual opportunity or an obstacle to our growth as a liberal oasis in the Bible Belt?
