Welcome, no matter who and how you love.

We don't have all the answers, but we do have a community that welcomes you with open arms.

Wondering if this place could be a fit for you? UUism tends to be for people who want connection with other progressive, liberal-minded folks, and the opportunity to work on social and environmental causes, while also continually learning from studying the world’s great thinkers and religious leaders, and hearing inspiring messages every Sunday.

While we have people from diverse religious backgrounds (Jewish, Christian, Buddhist, agnostic, atheist, etc.) what unites us is respecting the worth and dignity of all people, and a commitment to lovingly working to make the world better. It is a place of community, and also of deepening one’s own spirituality.

You'll find members in whatever clothing makes them comfortable. Some go for "traditional church" attire, others choose jeans and sneakers.

Children wear comfortable clothing that can handle art supplies, sitting on the floor, and outdoor visits.

We have plenty of (flat!) parking, with lots of handicapped parking front and center. When we're really full, you'll find overflow parking in the grass, but it's the Lowcountry, so that's pretty flat, too.

Upon entering, you will see our Welcome Table in the foyer. There you can pick up an order of service. A congregation member will assist you with your name tag and answer any questions you have about our congregation. Please, stay after the service for coffee in the fellowship hall and the after-service discussion group that begins shortly thereafter in the sanctuary.

Bring them, bring them! Can you sense our excitement? The Director of Religious Education, Ann Harrison, is a 5th-generation Unitarian Universalist and, on top of that, a pretty awesome human. Her religious education curriculum is full of mindfulness and world exploration, with lots of art thrown into the mix. Kids go to the religious education room after participating in the first 15 minutes or so of services.

All ages are welcome. LGBTQIA+ Safe Space

We're a diverse group and our sermons are no different!

Sundays at UUCL are a unique experience filled with learning and shared purpose. We are a theme-based ministry, with a roster of different reverends and speakers.

We begin by lighting a chalice, symbolizing our unity. Our services come alive with uplifting songs, heartfelt affirmations, and the genuine sharing of our joys and concerns.

Our sermons are informative and encouraging. One week might highlight how we can support neighbors in our community facing challenges, emphasizing the importance of local involvement. Another Sunday, Reverend Charlie Tyler could explore the power of human connection, the need for belonging, and ways we can support each other in times of solitude or distress. Occasionally, we’re graced with guests like Reverend Pat Jobe, who share their insights on pressing issues and inspire us to be proactive agents of change.

One thing's for sure, Sundays at UUCL are always enriching and filled with a sense of community. Whether you're a regular or thinking about visiting for the first time, we look forward to sharing these moments with you!
